Texans Open Rookie Minicamp This Weekend

The Texans start up their rookie minicamp this weekend, the first chance to get a look at their 2018 draft selections as well as the undrafted free agents. A lot of players will be out there on a tryout basis, while others will competing for actual roster spots this summer.

One spot of interest will the tight end position. The Texans drafted two tight ends in this draft class in UCF's Jordan Akins and Mississippi State's Jordan Thomas. With Ryan Griffin and Stephen Anderson as the only viable tight ends on the roster, the two rookies will have a chance to prove what they can do.

Offensive lineman Martinas Rankin will get a chance to show his versatility, though some believe he will compete with Julie'n Davenport for the starting left tackle spot. Undrafted rookie offensive linemen Anthony Coyle from Fordham and KJ Malone from LSU will be out on the field this weekend.

According to reports, the Texans did not bring in a rookie quarterback as an UDFA, so it looks like Deshaun Watson, Brandon Weeden and Joe Webb could all be candidates to be the primary passer this weekend for rookie minicamp.

Here is a full list of the undrafted rookies that should be on the Texans practice field this weekend:
