Source: Texans sign former Longhorns CB Josh Thompson to future deal

HOUSTON – The Texans signed former University of Texas cornerback Josh Thompson to a reserve-future deal following his visit today, according to a league source.

Thompson has played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans.

Thompson is a native of Nacogdoches who chose the Longhorns over Baylor, Kansas State, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Penn State and UCLA.

At Texas, he recorded 108 tackles, five tackles for losses two interceptions and one fumble recovery and one touchdown.

Thompson (5-11, 194) has run the 40-yard dash in 4.40 seconds with a vertical leap of 37 1/2 inches.

A former undrafted free agent with the Jaguars, Thompson made the initial 53-man roster before being released and signed to the practice squad.

He was signed off the Jaguars’ practice squad by the Titans. He was re-signed to the practice squad after being waived after being activated from the non-football injury list.
