The Texans elevated defensive tackle Michael Dwumfour, wide receiver Jalen Camp and linebacker Connor Strachan for their season finale Sunday against the Tennessee Titans at NRG Stadium.
Texans safety Justin Reid remains on the COVID-19 reserve list and is not expected to be activated, meaning he has in all likelihood played his final game for the Texans as an unrestricted free agent not expected to sign back with the AFC South franchise, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly,
Texans coach David Culley indicated Friday that the Texans are planning to go with safeties Eric Murray and Terrence Brooks against the Titans. Special teams standout A.J. Moore will operate as the third safety.
A former third-round draft pick from Stanford, Reid is expected to have a strong market as a free agent. The Louisiana native has two interceptions and one forced fumble in 11 games this season.
Reid isscheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in 2022 after his four-year, $4.063 million rookie contract expires. Reid is being paid a $2.433 million base salary this year. The younger brother of former Pro Bowl safety Eric Reid, Reid has seven career interceptions. Reid addressed his status on Instagram with a message that alluded to this possibly being the end of his tenure with the Texans.
"It’s up in the air if I’ll play the season finale this year," Reid wrote. "Just wanna say THANK YOU to all the incredible fans for an amazing journey this year. It’s been a hell a ride to play for you guys the past 4 years. I love you Houston!"
Dwumfour is aformer New York Jetsplayer who went undrafted out of Rutgers..
Dwumfour transferred from Michigan and recorded 59 career tackles in college with 3 1/2 sacks, 8 1/2 tackles for losses and one interception.
Dwumfour has played well since joining the Texans. In two games and one start, he has four tackles and a half-sack. He has two tackles for losses and two quarterback hits.
