Texans' Ross Blacklock flashes skill, but commits penalties in victory

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Ross Blacklock alternately displayed the skill that prompted the Texans to draft him in the second round and a frustrating tendency to commit penalties.

The former Texas Christian standout from Missouri City had one sack and two tackles for losses in a 22-13 win over the Tennessee Titans, helping the Texans stop an eight-game losing streak.

Blacklock, who now has two sacks this season, was also flagged twice for offsides Sunday.

"Well, when you get two offsides that's not very good," Texans coach David Culley said of Blacklock. "When you do that, they get momentum. That puts us in a tough situation. First of all, we got to be able to eliminate those kinds of mistakes. But he plays hard. He plays hard all the time. But he's got to learn to be able to stay on side."
