Sources: Keke Coutee to Colts, Buddy Howell joins Rams

Former Texans wide receiver Keke Coutee has joined the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad, according to a league source not authorized to speak publicly.

Coutee once caught 11 passes for 110 yards and a touchdown on 14 targets during a playoff loss to the Colts as a rookie.

A former fourth-round draft pick from Texas Tech, Coutee was cut in the wake of the Texans acquiring slot wide receiver Anthony Miller from the Chicago Bears via a trade.

Targeted 40 times last season, Coutee caught 33 passes for 400 yards and three touchdowns on 40 targets as his role increased when Randall Cobb, since traded to the Green Bay Packers, injured his toe. For his career, Coutee has 83 catches for 941 yards and four scores.

The Los Angeles Rams are signing former Texans running back Buddy Howell to the practice squad, according to a league source.

Howell (6-foot-1, 218 pounds) is a special-teams standout from Florida Atlantic who had a career-high 64 rushing yards last year and 16 career tackles.

He has played in 45 career games.
