After Completing Mini-Sweep of Rockies, Astros Set to Host Angels

Alex Bregman and Yuli Gurriel both hit home runs Wednesday night as the Astros completed a mini two game sweep of the Rockies. With the win, Houston extends their winning streak to five games.

Wade Miley improved to 7-4 on the season with another solid outing on the mound. Miley pitched six innings giving up five hits, one earned run while walking two. He struck out six and sat down the last 11 of 12 batters he faced. Roberto Osuna earned his 19th save of the season, tossing a scoreless 9th inning.

Along with Bregman and Gurriel, Josh Reddick knocked in two runs to help the Astros to a victory.

Houston has a day off on Independence Day and will get ready to host a weekend series against the Angels. The Angels are mourning the loss of one of their pitchers, Tyler Skaggs who passed away suddenly earlier this week. Skaggs was only 27 years old. The Astros will use the proceeds from Friday's Astros Foundation Share2Care 50/50 Raffle as a donation to the Angels Baseball Foundation in memory of Skaggs.

Justin Verlander will start Friday night's game followed by Gerrit Cole Saturday night. Jose Urquidy will start the series finale Sunday afternoon. After the weekend series, the Astros will head into the All-Star break.
