Astros Blow Out Angels 10-4, Complete Mini-Sweep in Mexico Series

After a 14-2 victory Saturday night, the Houston Astros continued their barrage on the baseball with a 10-4 victory over the Angels Sunday afternoon. With the two wins, Houston completed a mini-sweep of Los Angeles in the Mexico Series from Estadio de Beisbol de Monterrey.

Alex Bregman hit a grand slam for his third home run in the series to lead the way for the Astros. Carlos Correa and Michael Brantley also hit homers in the blow out win. Houston hit a total of eight home runs in the mini-sweep. George Springer, Bregman, Brantley, Josh Reddick, and Yuli Gurriel all had two hits each Sunday afternoon. During the two games in Mexico, the Astros scored 24 runs on 27 hits.

Justin Verlander earned his fifth win of the season. Verlander went 6.1 IP, allowing four earned runs on five hits. He struck out seven while walking one. Ryan Pressly tossed 1.2 IP allowing one hit while striking out one. Pressly surpassed the Astros franchise record of scoreless innings. He is now at 33 scoreless innings. Roy Oswalt held the previous record of 32.1 scoreless innings.

Gerrit Cole gets the start tomorrow night as the Astros return home to face the Kansas City Royals. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10pm.
