Cole and Pressly Have Solid Outings in Loss to Nationals

Gerrit Cole continued his throwing program in Spring Training with a start against the Washington’s Nationals. Cole threw two gutless innings but the Astros lost, 4-2.

Cole issued a leadoff walk followed by retiring the next six Nationals to finish off his outing. His final line: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB and 3 K.

Ryan Pressly made his spring debut and struck out the side in the fifth inning. Pressly only needed 14 pitches in which 12 were strikes.

On the offensive side of the baseball, Carlos Correa went 2-3 and scored a run. Yuli Gurriel also went 2-3 and had one of the two RBIs in the game. Josh Reddick knocked in the other run for the Astros.

The Astros will continue Grapefruit League play Monday afternoon against the Atlanta Braves. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05pm CT. Listen to every inning on SportsTalk790.
