As of this Monday morning, Bill O'Brien still hasn't officially decided who will start at QB for the Texans Thursday night in Cincinnati. Tom Savage was benched after the first half in the loss against Jacksonville. O'Brien claims he only made the switch to get a "spark."
However, Ian Rappaport is reporting the Texans are leaning towards starting rookie Deshaun Watson:
1st round pick Deshaun Watson has impressed the #Texans at every checkpoint. They think he’s a future star. The future may be right now.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 11, 2017
There may be ONE big issue though... looks like Deshaun Watson may not be 100%. He said he was fine after the game, but Rappaport reports:
One complicating issue for the #Texans & their QB choice: Source says Deshaun Watson was spotted limping with an ankle injury. Short week.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 11, 2017
This isn't surprising given how terrible the O line is and also a concern going forward. I'd be nervous throwing our future of the franchise out there with this line protecting him.
